The Montjuïc and Gran Via sites will be hosting professional salons and congresses of international importance in 2018 that will further reinforce Fira de Barcelona’s position as a leading international centre for industrial and technological innovation.

Main events for 2018:

  • The colossus of the mobile industry
    Mobile World Congress is the world’s leading event for mobile communications. It will attract over 2,300 companies and 108,000 professionals from 200 countries. It will coincide with the latest edition of 4YFN, an event for entrepreneurship based on mobile technology.
  • The main event for the food and hotel sectors
    2018 will see the creation of one of the most important platforms for the food, gastronomy and hotel equipment industries, with the combination of the shows focusing on these sectors Alimentaria and Hostelco. They will attract more than 4,500 companies, 27% of which will be from abroad.
  • Industry 4.0 week
    The second edition of the Barcelona Industry Week, one of the most important trade fairs devoted to 4.0 industry. It embraces the shows In(3D)ustry (additive manufacturing), IoT Solutions World Congress (a congress dealing with the Internet of Things) and Healthio (innovation in healthcare).
  • The energy fair
    For the first time ever, Gastech, the world’s leading trade fair for the natural gas and liquefied natural gas (LNG) industry, will be held in Spain and will bring together over 600 exhibitors and 20,000 professionals. It will be held simultaneously with the Global Energy Fair (GPEX).
  • World smart city summit
    Smart City Expo World Congress will gather together more than 700 cities from all over the world and over 400 speakers to debate the technological innovations that enable cities to become more sustainable in terms of their mobility, energy efficiency, democratic governance, town planning and the knowledge economy.
  • Site of major medical congresses
    The Gran Via site will host the world’s largest ophthalmological congress (WOC), which will attract over 15,000 specialists. There will be other medical events, such as the meetings arranged by the European Orthopedics and Traumatology societies (EFORT) and the International society for Extracellular Vesicles (ISEV)
  • The world of bridal fashion
    A new edition of Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week, a highlight of the bridal fashion industry, will have displays by the leading brands and a professional salon in which more than 300 companies that offer clothes for bride and groom, festivities and ceremonies will take part.
  • The Packaging show
    Hispack, is returning, the most important date for the parcel and packaging industry, which aims to attract 700 exhibitors. It will run alongside FoodTech Barcelona, the new version of the fair devoted to food technology.
  • The videogame universe
    Barcelona Games World is the foremost show for videogames in Spain, and it is organized by Fira in collaboration with AEVI. In 2018 it will return to offer fans of the gamer universe all the latest offerings from the sector.

Events you cannot afford to miss

2018 will also see a number of important events that have grown to become undeniable highlights in their special field, such as comics, manga, caravaning, sailing, decoration or electronic music.

We are talking about Sónar, for example and the salons specializing in Comics and Manga, Caravaning, IBTM World, the Spring and Autumn editions of Expohogar, Teaching, B-Travel, Handmade, Autoretro, SIL, Barcelona Meeting Point, Liber, Barcelona Tattoo Expo and Arnold Classic Europe, among many others.
