An intense trade fair calendar for 2020. The Montjuïc and Gran Via sites will host top-ranking international shows and congresses, with a special focus on technological innovation, food, the hotel trade, chemical industry, fashion and health.
The intense activity of 2020 will confirm Fira de Barcelona’s leadership in the trade fair sector and the significant social and economic contribution it makes to the city and region.
Main events in 2020:
⊕ The big date for the food and the hotel trade
The hosting of Alimentaria and Hostelco together will attract more than 4,500 companies from the food, gourmet and hotel equipment sectors from 70 countries, and will occupy over 100,000 m2 of Gran Via site.
⊕ Summit on the cities of the future
The foremost event dealing with smart cities, Smart City Expo World Congress, will display the latest technological solutions for making cities more sustainable, efficient and inclusive. It will be held together with the Smart Mobility Congress which focuses on new developments in urban
⊕ A reference for the applied chemistry industry
Expoquimia, the international meeting of the chemical industry, will be looking hard at new materials and more sustainable processes. It will take place alongside the shows Equiplast (plastics sector) and Eurosurfas (surface treatments).
⊕ The bridal scene
Valmont Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week has emerged as a landmark for the wedding fashion industry. It includes an outstanding programme of fashion shows and a professional salon where new proposals from over 400 brands for bride and groom wear, receptions and ceremonies will be on display.
⊕ A reference in the aeronautical sector
This is the first time that the Aviation Week MRO Europe, is being held here, the most important meeting for the aeronautical maintenance sector in Europe, which will attract over 900 airlines and 9,000 professionals.
⊕ IOT solutions
IOT Solutions World Congress is the international meeting that deals with the digitalization of industry through the technology of the Internet of Things. There will be over 300 speakers and 350 exhibitors from more than 100 countries.
⊕ Major medical and technology congresses
The European congresses for Magnetic Resonance (ESMRMB), Anaesthesiology (ESA) or Vascular Imaging (EACVI), among others, will be held here, as well as important technology meetings such as Cisco Live or Vmworld.
⊕ The world leader in business travel
For another year, Ibtm World, the world’s leading trade fair for business tourism, will have an outstanding presence at Fira de Barcelona, continuing until 2022 at least.
⊕ The books are back
The Gran Via venue will host Liber, the most important Spanish language book fair, which is held in alternate years with Madrid. In 2020, it expects to attract more than 300 publishing houses.

Fairs in other countries
In 2020, Fira de Barcelona expects to go further in its activities in other countries and help to organize a total of 16 fairs, six of which will be new.
- Smart City Expo around the world
Editions of the congress on smart cities are due to be held in Curiba (Brazil), Atlanta (USA), Buenos Aires (Argentina), Mérida (Mexico), Doha (Qatar), Kioto (Japan) and in Santiago de Chile for the first time.
- Activity is growing in Cuba
The fairs of Alimentos Cuba, Energías Renovables and Fecons Cuba will be supplemented in 2020 with three more new fairs, namely CubaIndustria, Informática y Transporte & Logística.
- New events in Mexico
Besides a new edition of ExpoAntad & Alimentaria México, this year will see the launch of replicas of the Pisicina & Wellness and Automobile fairs.
