After the summer break, our trade fairs start up again at the end of August with the European Cardiology Congress, a top flight event that kicks off the second half of the year with new events and a frenetic level of activity: 35 programmed fairs and events, including some related with the most advanced technology and health.

A look at this intense schedule reveals Fira de Barcelona’s interest in innovation and in attracting important events, strengthening its positioning in the European context and its role as a social and economic force in this country.

Barcelona Industry Week

This autumn, Fira is launching Barcelona Industry Week, its newest and most important fair platform in relation with innovation and the so-called fourth industrial revolution. From the 2nd to the 6th October, the Gran Via site will simultaneously host this year’s editions of Expoquimia, Eurosurfas, Equiplast, World Congress of Chemical Engineering y World Chemical Summit, “Smart Chemistry, Smart Future”, In(3D)ustry (impresión 3D) y IoT Solutions World Congress (Internet of Things). These events will involve a thousand exhibiting companies, 850 speakers and more than 50,000 professional visitors.

A reference for Smart Cities

Barcelona will also become the world capital of smart cities this autumn, with a focus on urban mobility and the circular economy. The trade fairs of Smart City World Congress and Smart Mobility World Congress, are being held at the same time, from the 14th to the 18th November in the Gran Via site, in Fira’s most obvious statement to date on promoting sustainability and innovation.

The capital of medical congresses

The second half of the year sees an impressive concentration of major medical events. Besides the European Cardiology Congress (26-30 agosto), there will also be the United European Congress on Gastroenterology (UEG Week, from the 28th October to 1st November), which will bring more than 10,000 specialists in this area together for its 25th anniversary. There will also be meetings of the Burns and Magnetic Resonance Associations. As regards technology, we will be hosting meetings of the companies SAP and VM Ware.

The Showcase for the Nautical Sector in Spain

Barcelona’s Boat show, or Salón Náutico is an unmissable event for professionals and amateurs in the world of sport and leisure sailing. From the 11th to the 15th October, the Port Vell of Barcelona will be playing host to the latest models of boats and all kinds of material for taking part in nautical sports activities.

Trends in the swimming pool industry

Piscina & Wellness Barcelona, from the 17th to the 20th October at the Gran Via site of Fira de Barcelona will bring together more than 300 companies from 25 countries to show the latest developments in private and public swimming pools, as well as wellness and spa facilities.

Leader in business tourism

From the 28th to the 30th October, IBTM World will present the latest ideas for organizing business travel, congresses and incentives. It is the most important fair in the world for this segment, with more than 3,000 companies from 100 countries taking part.

More fairs catering to hobbies and interests

This autumn sees the return of the leading events for fans of videogames with the second edition of Barcelona Games World, fans of manga (Salón del Manga), body building (Arnold Classic Europe) and classic cars (AutoRetro), among others.

Our presence abroad is growing

The second half of the year will see the presence of Fira de Barcelona abroad increase as we help the business community to explore new markets. In all, we will be cooperating in five shows in other countries: There will be a Smart City Expo in Kioto and one in Buenos Aires for the first time. There will also be two new events in Cuba dealing with renewable energy and security (Energías Renovables y Securtec); then there is another in Doha for handmades, and consultancy services in a number of countries.
