Our calendar for 2019 is crammed with important events for professionals and the general public. There are fairs with a long tradition, such as the Car Show, now called Automobile Barcelona, which is celebrating its centenary, business events that are global references, like the Mobile World Congress or ITMA, and new ventures like the Retail & Brand Experience fair, among a host of other events.
This intense activity will reinforce Fira de Barcelona’s position in the Spanish and European Fair circuit, as well as its impact on our social and economic environment.
Main events in 2019
⊕ 100 years of Automobile Barcelona
9 to 19 May
Automobile Barcelona is the most important event for the car industry in Spain, and combines technology, mobility and the latest models unveiled by the main car makers. It will be celebrating its centenary in 2019 with an attractive special commemorative programme.
⊕ The mobile universe
25 to 28 February
Mobile World Congress, the world’s largest mobile technology event, will attract over 2,300 companies and 107,000 professionals from 200 countries to this year’s edition, focused on smart connectivity. It is being held alongside 4YFN, the event for startups.
⊕ City summit
19 to 21 November
The leading event for smart cities, Smart City Expo World Congress, is calling on experts and representatives from cities around the world and technology companies to find solutions for mobility, urban organization and sustainability.
⊕ The giant of the textile industry
20 to 26 June
La ITMA, the most important trade fair for textile and garment machinery in the world is being hosted by Fira de Barcelona for the second time, after its first visit in 2011. It will occupy the whole of the Gran Via site and expects to welcome 120,000 visitors from 147 countries.
⊕ The future of construction
14 to 17 May
Another edition of Barcelona Building Construmat, the trade fair for the construction industry, which is focused on an innovative and sustainable model of development for the sector. It will bring companies and experts together to discuss new forms of digitalization and technological innovation in new materials and building techniques.
⊕ IoT solutions
29 to 31 October
IoT Solutions World Congress is the international event that focuses on the Internet of Things, attracting experts and the leading companies in the development of this technology, with its great potential for the future through the digitalization of industry. There will be over 300 speakers and 340 exhibitors from more than 100 countries.
⊕ European Oncology Congress
27 September to 1 October
22019 will be a year of major medical events like the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) with more than 20,000 specialists. The European congresses on Diabetes (EASD) and Urology (EAU), among others, will also be held this year..
⊕ Bridal power
23 to 28 April
Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week is the main event for the bridal fashion industry and it is back for its annual visit with a catwalk featuring the main brands, accompanied by a professional salon attended by over 300 companies specializing in dressing brides and grooms and organizing celebrations and ceremonies.
⊕ The video game fair
28 November to 1 December
Barcelona Games World, the fair for video games and digital entertainment will be back in 2019 with the latest products from the main game companies and lots of experiences, shows and leisure activities.
⊕ A reference for sailing
9 to 13 October
The Boat Show, the Saló Nàutic de Barcelona, is the most important in the sector in Spain, and will display all the latest developments in boats, engines, services and sports in Port Vell. There is also a programme of activities for those with a love of the sea.
The first Retail & Brand Experience World Congress
As part of its drive for innovation, Fira de Barcelona is launching the Retail & Brand Experience World Congress in 2019, dedicated to the digital transformation of the retail sector. It will consist of a congress, an area devoted to startups and an exhibition space.
This new event is Fira’s response to the demands from the retail sector, a vital area of the economy.
