Did you know that there are 31,000 trade fairs in the world, with more than 4.4 million exhibitors and 260 million visitors? The trade fair sector generates over 680,000 jobs and it is estimated that exhibitors and visitors to fairs spend around 98 billion euros every year. These figures reveal the importance of this sector for the regional economies and societies of the places where they are held.
This is why Global Exhibitions Day was set up in 2016, an initiative of the world’s main trade fair association, the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI), with the support, in Spain, of the Association of Spanish Fairs (AFE).
In 2018, Global Exhibitions Day was held on 6th June. Fira de Barcelona, the leader in Spain and a reference in Europe, which has an annual impact of more than 2,600 million euros and 40,000 jobs, took part in the campaign once again with a video that underlined the contribution that trade fairs make.
