Expomóvil, an opportunity for workshops
Car repair shops are part of the urban landscape in Spanish towns, like bars, pharmacies, banks and grocery stores. Having a reliable workshop nearby often gets us out of a tight spot.
Most workshops in Spain are very small family businesses that generally do not have more than three employees, but they are becoming increasingly sophisticated: the electrical and electronic systems that are fitted to vehicles means that their repair equipment must be more varied, and their knowledge more extensive. Modernization of the workshop and training are the keys to their future.
Generating new business opportunities and meeting the business needs of independent workshops and spare parts outlets is the main objective of Expomóvil Comercial, the Automobile Spare Parts, Accessories, Equipment and Aftermarket Show, which returns to Fira de Barcelona from 15 to 17 March as a biennial professional show.
Expomóvil Comercial is the only Spanish trade fair platform for the aftermarket in 2012, and is a very reliable and direct approach to a market that is very dynamic in Catalonia and the neighbouring regions, where there are more than 15,000 workshops – a quarter of the Spanish total.
Providing added value
According to Antoni Marsal, president of the Unión Patronal Metalúrgica and of the fair’s organizing committee, “Expomóvil Comercial must provide added value and create the ideal setting for facilitating contacts and relationships with those involved in the sector in order to improve cooperation in all areas (commercial, technological, industrial, educational, etc.) and to enhance the presence of businesses and professionals in markets to increase the sector’s competitiveness and to create new lines of business and future activities”.
Over 100 exhibiting companies are anticipated to participate in the first show in the Montjuïc area. The approach is a practical one: to promote sales and business contacts and to focus on making the exhibits and activities on offer of the utmost interest to professionals in the sector.
These areas include spare parts and components; equipment for workshops and garages, service stations and car washes; paintwork; tyres; accessories, customization and car audio; waste management and recycling; tools; new technologies, services and training, as well as industry associations and organizations and the specialized press.
According to opinion in the sector, the essential need among workshop professionals is to be able to compare offers and make decisions about purchases or specialization in work systems, and obtain reliable information about the latest technical and service developments that can help them update their business.
The fair has an area for training and exchanging experiences, featuring the participation of manufacturers and distributors of spare parts and accessories, workshop technology, information technology, consultants and experts.
Technical seminars, lectures and professional forums can help to update knowledge and habits and identify business opportunities within the areas of specialization, the use of new technologies and improved management.
The international dimension
In order to generate the maximum level of business opportunities, Fira de Barcelona has signed a collaboration agreement with Promotec, the company that organizes Autopromotec, one of the leading European trade shows dedicated to workshop equipment and the aftermarket, which will take place in Bologna from 25 to 29 May. The aim is to take advantage of the synergies between the Spanish and Italian markets, fostering the participation of Italian businesses, professional associations and buyers at Expomóvil Comercial and conversely, promoting Autopromotec in the Spanish professional market, which accounts for 7% of its visitors.
