Firanews is the online magazine of Fira de Barcelona, with articles, videos and images that tell you what the institution is doing in the economic sectors related with its activities and in Barcelona, from a journalist’s point of view.
Behind Firanews there is a team of professionals from the Communications and Studies Department of Fira, who design and carry out its global strategy for corporate communications, its trade fairs, supporting the organization’s marketing strategies and carrying out market research.
It is one of the most important tradeshow organizers in Europe, and leader in the Spanish market. Every year it hosts over 120 shows, congresses and corporate events, attracting 30,000 exhibitors and welcoming more than 2 million visitors from over 200 countries. It has two sites, at Montjuïc and Gran Via, which together make up 400,000 m2 of total exhibition space, one of the largest available in Europe.
Its estimated value to the city and its region’s economy is more than 2.600 million euros and its activities also create social and public value. Fira is positioning itself as a global operator, with an international reputation that is closely tied to the name of Barcelona, a city which has been hosting exhibitions for over a century.
The Fira de Barcelona consortium includes the City Council, Ajuntament de Barcelona, the Regional Government, the Generalitat de Catalunya and the Barcelona Chamber of Commerce, combining public ownership with autonomous business management.
